With decades of experience on the tools, Lawrence Christy is Bedford’s most respected, talented plumber and an expert heating engineer. From a time-served employee of some of Bedford’s largest plumbing & heating companies, Lawrence became a sole trader in 2000. With the support of his wife, Sarah, they built the business of Christy Plumbing & Heating Ltd, now employing a team of twelve.
As one of Worcester Bosch’s top 500 installers in the UK, Lawrence has been part of focus groups aimed at improving the quality of boilers and the workmanship of boiler engineers. As a MAX installer for Ideal Heating, Lawrence has been invited into their premier club annually.

Also known locally as Christy-pedia, Lawrence is a source of knowledge to other local contractors and provides commercial plumbing and heating expertise which is second to none.

Investing in our people
In establishing the company, it was never all about supporting our own family, but also providing opportunities to others. Very soon after the company was formed, we recruited our first apprentice and has played a key role in developing the business especially in our bathroom fitting service. All our current team are home-grown and been Lawrence’s apprentices. This has meant the growth of exceptional plumbing and heating engineers who work hard and are continuous learners.
All have graduated from Bedford College’s Gas and Plumbing Technology Centre and regularly attend manufacturers’ training or expand their skills through specialist training courses. Our team are kept up to date with current water and gas regulations, and trained on best practices for the repair, maintenance, and installation of increasingly technical modern domestic and commercial systems.
